New Month's Resolution

And here we begin, with the first blog post in a brand new shiny blog that may or may not see future updates.

I've started this blog with the initial purpose of breaking my internet addiction. How ironic. I suppose I could have written all this down in my personal journal, but for some reason putting my agenda out on the Information Superhighway seemed much more appropriate. That and I couldn't find a pen. Furthermore, I can't post links to http://sarahjessicaparkerlookslikeahorse.com/ in my "analog" journal. Anyhow, onto the good stuff...

I like the internet. I like the internet a lot. I find it extremely handy, and full of fun facts. However, I spend too much time on the internet, and I'd like to break that habit before college begins. So, here is my plan, which will take action at the beginning of July. I'd start sooner, but the beginning of a month is a better marker.

  • Watch more TV. At first, this may sound ridiculous, like using more coke to cut down on your smack use. Which is partially true, though I'm considering the TV to be more like methadone. I can't count how many times I've missed Mankini's latest exploits or who LoQuaysha's babydaddy is due to mindless Facebooking and Stumbling. Basically, self, if there's a show on TV that you want to watch, close your laptop and WATCH IT.
  • Make time for crafts/DIY projects. They interest you, they're fun to make, and you've thumbs-up'd a ton of projects via StumbleUpon. Take the time to DO them. You've got that sewing machine somewhere, and you have a cloth magazine rack overflowing with yarn, needles, and crochet hooks. Speaking of crochet hooks, re-learn to crochet! Your potential yarn-related craft projects will double. Oh, and fix Those Jeans. They need it :)
  • READ MORE. Back in the day, I was a voracious reader. I still love books, and buy them compulsively. Problem: I don't read them. I need to start. So, self, every night you're home alone, read AT LEAST one chapter of a book before you go to sleep. Start with the new David Sedaris book. God know how you love him.
Welp, that's all my ideas for now. Maybe I'll use this blog as a one-person book club, to encourage my own reading and such.
